History

Redwater is twelve miles southwest of Texarkana in southeastern Bowie County. It grew up in the mid-1870s around a sawmill operated by two men named Daniels and Spence, who named the community Ingersoll, in honor of the agnostic Robert Ingersoll. A post office was established in 1881, and by 1884 the town had an estimated population of fifty. In 1886 a big revival meeting was held in the town, which resulted in about 110 conversions. Shortly after the meeting residents of the town, no longer wishing to honor the agnostic, decided that the name of the town should be changed. They had just completed a new well that yielded red water, and the town was renamed for this feature. The name of the post office was not officially changed until 1894. Although the population of the town swelled to an estimated 300 by 1892, by 1900 it had fallen to 128. It reached 250 in the 1920s. During World War II the Red River Army Depot and Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant were built just north of Redwater, providing thousands of jobs for county residents. The population of Redwater jumped from 250 in the early 1940s to 457 by 1950. In 1982 Redwater had a population of 460 and five rated businesses. In 1990 the population was 894.

Redwater is also home to the very first set of quadruplets in the United States.

- Redwater is also home to the very first set of quadruplets in the United States. As well as, is the birth place of "The Original & Real Kenny Wayne." And of which, as of this date (February 23, 2008), these provable true and factual lessons in the continued history and trivia of Redwater, Texas; It should also be duly noted and substantiated that Kenny Wayne is still the only person ever, in the complete history of not just Redwater, but in the whole county of Bowie County today and quite possibly the future; That for well over forty five (45) years has been and still is, An International aand National Critically Acclaimed, Numerous Award Winning Rock N' Roll, Blues (Both Contempoary and Traditional), Americana, Roots, Country (Both New and Traditional), and Soul Music Recording Artist. He is A Lead Singer and A Hit Song Writer (All Genres), Musician, Record Producer (All Genres), and has been and still is, an active Independant Record Label and Music Publishing Company Owner/CEO since 1969! Although all of the aforementioned provable historical facts are very true; KW is still Redwater, Texas' Best Kept Secret! That's because unlike his Illegal Copyright Trade Infringement Law Suit Recipient that's A Non Lead singer, Young Stevie Ray Vaughan guitar stylist copy cat, with the fake last name and almost same name, over hyped, and big bucks major record company label bought publicity in the media and who's major record label has also afforded better bought promotional radio ads. And therefore, whom has been over hyped and over exposed World Wide. Thus gaining lots better name recongnition in Google, Wikipedia and all of those other search engine web sites and all media top listings. All of which those over kill of blogs, and top places bought too, on the web's search engines, can be easily bought by buying multi advertisements to use as a underhanded type of under the table payolo type trade out for favors owed; for buying all those ads to get his name posted on all of those well known big name cyber space sites. Of which their used to make the Illegal almost same name so-called Rockin' Blues Music competition appear more important and more famous! However and unfortunate for "The Original & Real Kenny Wayne," very few people in media, cyberspace surfers, nor his fans, know that KWS uses a "fake last name instead of his "Real last name, Brobst." Just like, sadly very few people (Because of No big bucks backed major record label promotional hype, Nor no bought advertisments for trade outs to be guaranteed, to be written about and listed in GOOGLE, WIKIPEDIA, ETC; Not too many Rock n' Blues Music Lovers, even know that it is only The Redwater, Texas born, raised and schooled, Kenny Wayne, whom was born and raised in a very small two (2) room house, with no electricity, no running water, no indoor plumbing, no central air nor central heat and no natural nor butane gas for cooking and heating; Which was in that tiny country town of Redwater, Texas. It also is a little known true fact, that it is him, and only himself, that has humbly been rewarded, but with too little non-noted fan fare for possessing and showcasing all of those self taught traits and self earned achevements all by himself! In all of the entire history of Bowie County! Of which the county's musicial history includes, even The Legendary World Famous Rag Time Piano Player/Composer Scott Joplin! Whom was from Texarkana, Texas. But also whom is known (A world wide fact!) to have died of Syphllis that he contacted in one of the many Houses Of Ill Repute where that he was hired to perform. Although Scott Joplin was known for writing such World Wide Classic Rag Time Piano Songs as "The Entertainer" (Which was used as a theme song in the movie "Butch Cassidy And The Sun Dance Kid") and "Soltice Parts One (#1) and Two (#2);" Not even Mr. Joplin himself, and even though today, whom is still better known, because of that one and only movie theme song; Scott Joplin never ever, has received as much, Nor as many, International and National Accolades and Accomplished Achievements as "The Rockin' Little Redwater, Texas Country Blues Boy - Kenny Wayne!"
