Cibolo (pron: Sibilo) is a city in both Bexar and Guadalupe Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. A small portion of the city extends into Bexar County. The population was 3,035 at the 2000 census, although a population of 17,000 has been claimed for 2008.[3]
GeographyCibolo is located at (29.567211, -98.235079),[4] mostly within Guadalupe Couny.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 5.3 square miles (13.8 km²), all of it land. DemographicsAs of the census[1] of 2000, there were 3,035 people, 1,092 households, and 848 families residing in the city. The population density was 569.5 people per square mile (219.9/km²). There were 1,176 housing units at an average density of 220.7/sq mi (85.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 81.09% White, 6.16% African American, 0.26% Native American, 1.35% Asian, 0.10% Pacific Islander, 8.11% from other races, and 2.93% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 19.01% of the population. There were 1,092 households out of which 42.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 65.3% were married couples living together, 8.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 22.3% were non-families. 19.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.19. In the city the population was spread out with 29.4% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 35.6% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 6.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.3 males. The median income for a household in the city was $53,780, and the median income for a family was $65,545. Males had a median income of $42,557 versus $26,333 for females. The per capita income for the city was $23,988. About 4.8% of families and 6.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.7% of those under age 18 and 16.6% of those age 65 or over. EducationThe City of Cibolo is served by the Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District. City Logo and SloganIn 2007 the city of Cibolo introduced a new logo and slogan. The logo, done by San Antonio-based Blue Clover, it is both modern and slick capturing the progressive and visionary direction of Cibolo. The slogan: "Expand Your Vision" also continues those same themes.
