Ethridge is a town in Lawrence County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 536 at the 2000 census.
GeographyEthridge is located at (35.321229, -87.302304)[3]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 square miles (3.0 km²), all of it land. DemographicsAs of the census[1] of 2000, there were 536 people, 210 households, and 153 families residing in the town. The population density was 457.8 people per square mile (176.9/km²). There were 245 housing units at an average density of 209.2/sq mi (80.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.63% White and 0.37% Pacific Islander. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.75% of the population. There were 210 households out of which 33.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.4% were married couples living together, 16.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.1% were non-families. 22.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.55 and the average family size was 2.98. In the town the population was spread out with 25.6% under the age of 18, 11.0% from 18 to 24, 28.7% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 97.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.0 males. The median income for a household in the town was $28,542, and the median income for a family was $42,708. Males had a median income of $29,000 versus $18,125 for females. The per capita income for the town was $15,360. About 4.2% of families and 9.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.5% of those under age 18 and 6.3% of those age 65 or over. Economy/TourismThe main tourism of Ethridge is its fine Amish families. They have many goods for sale year around. The Amish also make furniture and toy items. At anytime you can spot the Amish by their black horse drawn buggies that line the streets on any given day but Sunday, they are a kind people that want to belong to their community and help in any way they can.
