Athletics

Enjoying a storied athletic tradition throughout the ages, Georgetown Junior-Senior High School[2] has long produced fine athletes in a variety of sports. Despite being significantly smaller than nearly every other school in the area, Georgetown more than holds its own in every sport with consistent winning seasons and consistent state tournament berths.[3] Bolstered by the town league, the Georgetown Athletic Association, the Royal Lancers have found success at numerous levels of competition, recently highlighted by the exploits of the Georgetown Royals Football squad on the gridiron through the 2007 season led by second year coach, Matt Bouchard, who has the Royals going nowhere but up. Georgetown Royals football won the Division 3A Superbowl in 2000, and lost in the Superbowl semi-finals in 2001 and 2005. Georgetown's rival is Manchester-by-the-Sea.
