Spring Bay is a village in Woodford County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2000 census, the village population was 436 and is part of the Peoria, Illinois Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Geography

Spring Bay is located at 40°49′27″N, 89°31′24″W (40.824261, -89.523330).^[1]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.1 square miles (3.0 km²), of which, 0.8 square miles (2.1 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.9 km²) of it (28.95%) is water.

Demographics

As of the census^[2] of 2000, there were 436 people, 173 households, and 125 families residing in the village. The population density was 541.0 people per square mile (207.8/km²). There were 187 housing units at an average density of 232.0/sq mi (89.1/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.85% White, 0.46% African American, 0.23% Native American, and 0.46% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.69% of the population.

There were 173 households out of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.8% were married couples living together, 9.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.7% were non-families. 22.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.95.

In the village the population was spread out with 23.9% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 31.0% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 11.7% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 93.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.6 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $42,500, and the median income for a family was $43,750. Males had a median income of $38,375 versus $20,481 for females. The per capita income for the village was $18,915. About 2.1% of families and 4.8% of the population were below the poverty line, including 2.3% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
