Odin is a village in Marion County, Illinois, United States. The population was 1,122 at the 2000 census.
GeographyOdin is located at (38.616427, -89.053982).[1] According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.0 square miles (2.6 km²), all of it land. DemographicsAs of the census[2] of 2000, there were 1,122 people, 440 households, and 293 families residing in the village. The population density was 1,110.8 people per square mile (428.9/km²). There were 485 housing units at an average density of 480.2/sq mi (185.4/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.48% White, 0.62% African American, 0.09% Native American, 0.09% Asian, 0.09% Pacific Islander, 0.09% from other races, and 0.53% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.80% of the population. There were 440 households out of which 34.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 48.6% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 33.2% were non-families. 30.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.92. In the village the population was spread out with 25.2% under the age of 18, 9.0% from 18 to 24, 26.0% from 25 to 44, 20.0% from 45 to 64, and 19.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 39 years. For every 100 females there were 83.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.2 males. The median income for a household in the village was $32,019, and the median income for a family was $38,400. Males had a median income of $30,147 versus $22,500 for females. The per capita income for the village was $14,814. About 8.6% of families and 11.7% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.3% of those under age 18 and 5.9% of those age 65 or over. References
