Chandlerville is a village in Cass County, Illinois, USA. The population was 704 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Chandlerville is located at 40°2′54″N, 90°9′3″W (40.048241, -90.150836).^[1]

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.9 square miles (2.2 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census^[2] of 2000, there were 704 people, 296 households, and 200 families residing in the village. The population density was 818.0 people per square mile (316.1/km²). There were 318 housing units at an average density of 369.5/sq mi (142.8/km²). The racial makeup of the village was 97.59% White, 0.28% African American, 0.14% Native American, 0.28% Asian, 0.28% from other races, and 1.42% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.56% of the population.

There were 296 households out of which 31.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.1% were married couples living together, 7.8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.1% were non-families. 27.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.92.

In the village the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 30.0% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 95.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.1 males.

The median income for a household in the village was $33,162, and the median income for a family was $41,094. Males had a median income of $28,958 versus $21,765 for females. The per capita income for the village was $15,812. About 4.7% of families and 8.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 12.5% of those under age 18 and 8.1% of those age 65 or over.
