Arrowsmith is a village in McLean County, Illinois, United States. The population was 298 at the 2000 census[1].
GeographyArrowsmith is located at (40.448897, -88.631541)[2]. According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²), all land. HistoryArrowsmith was named for its founder, Daniel Arrowsmith. DemographicsAs of the census[3] of 2000, there were 298 people, 108 households, and 87 families residing in the village. The population density was 575.3/km² (1,464.4/mi²). There were 117 housing units at an average density of 225.9/km² (575.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the village was 98.99% White, 0.34% Native American, and 0.67% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.67% of the population. There were 108 households out of which 37.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.4% were married couples living together, 4.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 19.4% were non-families. 14.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.76 and the average family size was 3.09. In the village the population was spread out with 27.5% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 20.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 87.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.4 males. The median income for a household in the village was $49,375, and the median income for a family was $54,375. Males had a median income of $36,667 versus $25,179 for females. The per capita income for the village was $17,261. About 4.4% of families and 3.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including none of those under the age of eighteen and 3.2% of those sixty five or over. References
