Lemoore Station is a census-designated place (CDP) in Naval Air Station Lemoore, Kings County, California, United States. It is part of the Hanford - Corcoran Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 5,749 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Lemoore Station is located at 36°15′38″N, 119°53′31″W (36.260534, -119.891936)^[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.2 square miles (11.0 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the census^[2] of 2000, there were 5,749 people, 1,309 households, and 1,286 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 1,359.3 people per square mile (524.8/km²). There were 1,390 housing units at an average density of 328.6/sq mi (126.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 61.68% White, 10.96% African American, 1.30% Native American, 9.57% Asian, 0.77% Pacific Islander, 8.94% from other races, and 6.78% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 16.84% of the population.

There were 1,309 households out of which 80.1% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 92.2% were married couples living together, 3.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 1.7% were non-families. 1.5% of all households were made up of individuals and none had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.56 and the average family size was 3.56.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 35.4% under the age of 18, 26.4% from 18 to 24, 36.7% from 25 to 44, 1.3% from 45 to 64, and 0.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 22 years. For every 100 females there were 138.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 158.3 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $30,449, and the median income for a family was $30,407. Males had a median income of $21,035 versus $20,144 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $12,682. About 5.7% of families and 6.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 7.1% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.

Politics

In the state legislature Lemoore Station is located in the 16th Senate District, represented by Democrat Dean Florez, and in the 30th Assembly District, represented by Democrat Nicole Parra. Federally, Lemoore Station is located in California's 20th congressional district, which has a Cook PVI of D +5^[3] and is represented by Democrat Jim Costa.
