| Mount Meigs is a city located in Montgomery County in the state of Alabama. As of the 1990 census, the population was 3595. Mount Meigs is the home of the Alabama Industrial School which opened in 1911 as the "Alabama Reform School for Juvenile Negro Law-Breakers", was changed to the "Alabama Industrial School for Negro Children" in 1947, and to the Alabama Industrial School in 1970. Among the student-inmates at the Alabama Industrial School were Hall of Fame pitcher Satchel Paige and artist Lonnie Holleyand author/musician Johnny Bodley. The areas major export in the mid 1800s to 1940 was lumber. Cook Station and Mount Meigs Station were two main stations in the region.
