Addison High School

Addison High School, a member of the Winston County School System, is home of the Bulldogs. The school has good leadership and the community takes pride in both academics and sports. Addison had the most successful sports program in class 1-A in 2006 winning state championships in football and volleyball.

Many people like to trace the competitive spirit that Addison sports has to A.G. Hicks. Hicks came to Addison as football coach in the mid 50's and brought a tough nosed attitude that still prevails today. His teams were known for its great defense. In 1970 Addison won the state chanpionship, going 13-0, and allowed only one touchdown to be scored on its defense. Defense was again the key in 1976 when the Bulldogs won its second state championship in football under the direction of first year head coach Allen Stephenson. Randy White, also in his first year, led the Bulldogs to a third championship in 2006 with the same style of play he learned from Hicks in the 70's.

That same toughness has now been passed down to the female athletes through their parents. The volleyball program, under the directions of Pam Wilkins, has built a dynasty by winning three straight state championships and going undefeated in 2006. The softball and basketball programs are always very competitive. Coach Debbie Thompson led the girl's softball program to one state championship.
