Monday, 12 December 2011
Panic attack is really vicious and may control your life whether you like it or not. Millions of Americans live inside a box to evade the grim reality of their condition. Having an attack in public can be a traumatic experience indeed. Sudden and unexpected situations that can trigger an attack can be dangerous to you and the people around you. Add to this the embarrassment most victims feel once they partially lose grip of themselves and resort to breaking down emotionally and physically. To avoid discrimination, many victims opt to just hide what they feel which will just worsen the case in the process, since lack of proper social and medical attention is the biggest pitfall here. Stopping panic attacks may be really hard to do, not only for those who have the tendency to fall under the category but for medical professionals as well. Effectively managing panic attacks need not be tedious. As a matter of fact, it can be delicious. How's that?

There are certain foods that can give you a relaxing effect. Here are some foods to take so you can enjoy success in stopping panic attacks.

1. Chocolate
Known as aphrodisiacs or plainly as kids' favorite, this luscious treat is not only about calories, sugars and anti-oxidants. A certain chemical compound in it called phenylethylamine can trigger the brain to produce enzymes called anandamide. These enzymes perfectly emulate the love syndrome which will give you a soothing effect, thus a more stable heart rate and breathing. This is the same reason why chocolates are loved by millions, obviously because these millions also experience stress everyday and chocolates help them get relief.

Some psychologists suggest having one bar of chocolate in your bag, ready anytime you need to relax a bit. This is perfect if you don't know when to have an attack. This sweet treat may not cure your condition, but at least you are confident to get instant relief when you need it.

2. Sour fruits
You may not like them, but some people do. Sour fruits can trigger your appetite. There seems to be no connection to how to stop panic attacks at all, but actually the process of waking up one's appetite also veers the brain from processing overly assuming thoughts. Over-thinking is one major cause of a panic attack. Fighting the urge, or in this case, the capacity to over-process situations using sour fruits may help you significantly.

3. Cold water
A staple for many victims, doctors usually instruct to have a bottle whenever you are outside. This has a double purpose. Drinking cold water can refresh not only the body but the mind as well. This is a great remedy for palpitations and shortness of breathing. Aside from quenching your thirst, a bottle of cold water may actually be used as a cold press on your head and major veins. Heavy sweating is caused by excessive internal body processes like blood circulation and oxygen transfer. Pressing a cold water (or anything cold for that matter) may normalize you body and offer faster recovery.
