Gout is basically a sort of metabolic arthritis. It is a critical medical condition of congenital disorder of uric acid metabolism. The disease is caused by the buildup of uric acid in the body. The main source of the uric acid is the high purine foods that we ingest. Poor nutrition is yet another cause of the disease. For preventing the disease and to ensure the proper treatment the gout patients should follow the healthy diet prescribed by the doctor.

For Drinking plenty of water every day is important for the gout patients. Keeping your body hydrated is the first step to prevent the uric acid build up in the body. Our body is equipped to eliminate the uric acid from the body. But for ensuring the proper elimination of the uric acid one should drink sufficient amount of water every day. Taking fruits juices or liquid is important but you should abstain from alcohol because alcohol adds to the problem of gout.

Some foods that contain the high purines should be avoided. This constitutes the basic concept behind the perfect diet for the gout patients. High purine foods produce the high level of uric acid in the body. They help in producing higher level of uric acid in the blood. So, it is important to know the foods those contain high purines and need to avoid those foods.

Animal protein is the main source of the high purines. Gout patients should avoid foods like the organ meats or the kidneys, liver, brain etc. foods like anchovies, sweetbreads, sardines and red meats like the beef, lamb, pork, sea food and sea fishes like the shrimps, oysters, lobsters, scallops, stout, cod, poultry items like the duck, turkey, processed meats all these should be avoided. Some vegetables like the cauliflower, mushrooms, beans, peas, spinach, lentils and asparagus also should be avoided because these are also high purine foods.

You should also cut down the drinking of beer alongside the alcohol because these are also high purine foods. Make sure you avoid the intake of high purine foods because this is the only way you can eliminate the uric acid from the body.

The foods those are low purine should be included in the daily diets. Some foods are there which help the body in reducing the level of uric acid from the blood. Gout patients should try these out. Cereal, pasta, noodles, fresh vegetables, juices, fruits, eggs, cucumber, carrot, beet are good for the gout patients. Fresh fruits like cherry, cranberry and strawberry, apples, banana, lime juice, vegetables like the parsley, cabbage, kale and green leafy vegetables need to be included in the daily diet of the gout patients. It is now a proved factor that eating 30 to 40 cherries regularly can reduce the uric acid level in the blood. The combination of carrot, cucumber and beet juice are good for the gout patients. They help in reducing the pain and lowering the uric acid level in the blood.

Proper nutrition and low purine foods play major role in preventing the gout problem .They also help in controlling the recurrent gout attack. Proper treatment with proper food diet can work best for the gout patients. However, you should always consult your doctor about the basic food diet.
